commercial development

The shortage of good land and property stock in the UK is forcing developers to pursue increasingly 'lateral' strategies, such as mixed use schemes, public/private partnerships and innovative partnerships (particularly corporate occupiers and developers, and between investors and landowners). Having legal advisers with the insider knowledge and commercial pragmatism to help create development deals that hang together is critical.

Osborne Clarke's development practice is nationally recognised and well regarded with our experienced lawyers working for clients from across our specialist legal skillsets. We have extensive experience of working on both commercial and residential development and mixed use projects with public and private property companies, land owners, house builders, pension funds and other institutions that invest in and develop a wide range of real estate projects.

We operate a partnering relationship with our clients and their professional team, combining a deep understanding of commercial backdrop and strategies for driving land and property based assets/projects, with a pragmatic and straight forward approach.

We have advised on leading-edge projects ranging from mixed use schemes, City headquarters, industrial to retail and distribution parks. Our clients benefit from our ability to  bring together experts in development law to help clients capitalise on the growing opportunities in this vibrant sector.

As well as traditional planning advice, we can deliver corporate (on the joint venture issues), environmental, construction, tax and both property and construction litigation services. For mixed use schemes there is also often a need for commercial development advice and invariably construction advice.
