As of today (1 February 2012) limits on certain employment tribunal awards and other amounts payable under employment legislation have increased, in respect of terminations effective on or after today's date. In particular:
- The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal has increased to £72,300 (from £68,400); and

Essential HR Calendar
Please also find attached our Essential HR Calendar for 2012. This sets out key dates and actions in the coming year. We shall be updating this during the course of the year and shall inform you of developments.
In particular, please note that subject to formal confirmation from the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, indications are that the increase in the unfair dismissal qualifying period from one to two years which is expected to come into force on 6 April 2012 will only affect new joiners i.e. those whose employment begins on or after 6 April 2012. Those who are already in employment before that date will retain the current one year qualifying period.
