John has specialised in construction contract matters, contentious and non-contentious, for over 25 years. He established
a construction team at his previous firm (Laytons) and in 2000 joined Osborne Clarke to lead the construction practice.
He now concentrates on contentious matters, and regularly deals with litigation, arbitration and adjudication for construction
clients. Recent reported cases in which John has acted include:
The subject matters of disputes in which he has been involved range from the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem to Dublin Port
Tunnel.
John is also regularly retained as arbitrator, adjudicator or mediator. He is a past national Chairman of the Society of Construction
Law; and also Hon Secretary of the Society of Construction Arbitrators. John is also a regular contributor to the legal column
of Building Magazine and author of Civil Engineering Claims and Adjudication in Construction Contracts (both published by
Blackwell Scientific) and a frequent speaker at national and international seminars.
