Simon is the head of Osborne Clarke’s UK competition practice, with more than twenty years’ experience advising clients on EU and UK competition law, merger control and State aid issues.

Simon has extensive experience handling mergers and investigations before the Competition and Markets Authority and the European Commission.  As well as a keen interest in the retail, transport and technology sectors, Simon is increasingly undertaking contentious work, including sector and individual company investigations, private enforcement and follow-on damages claims. Simon’s recent work includes advising a technology manufacturer on a successful abuse of dominance claim against an electricity charging supplier; advising a computer manufacturer on a follow-on damages claim against members of the optical disk drive cartel and advising an electronic games publisher in connection with the EC’s e-commerce inquiry.  Simon has also developed a thriving advisory practice, regularly advising retail and technology clients on the competition law aspects of their distribution and commercial trading arrangements.

Simon qualified as a lawyer in 1995 and joined Osborne Clarke as a Partner in 2005. His earlier career included nine years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, including two years in their Brussels office. He is a member of the Law Society’s Competition Section and actively participates in Osborne Clarke’s Corporate Responsibility programme, regularly taking part in cycling events for the firm’s nominated charities.
