John is a commercial outsourcing and information technology specialist with over twenty years’ experience of large-scale domestic and international transactions.

He joined Osborne Clarke in 2013, having previously led and managed the commercial, technology and telecoms group at Stephenson Harwood, a major London City law firm. He has a diverse practice, which also includes exposure to Middle Eastern markets in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. His main specialisation includes Financial Services sector IT and outsourcing transactions that are highly regulated.

He has extensive experience of PPI (payment protection insurance) and IRD (interest rate derivative) remediation outsourcing.He structured and devised the UK’s first Sharia’h compliant outsourcing, which was to set up the UK’s first dedicated Sharia’h compliant insurer, Principle Insurance Holdings, and set up an innovative on-line portal that handles all of the UK’s routine road traffic accident claims. John’s team won the National Outsourcing Association’s Outsourcing Advisor of the Year award in 2009 and was shortlisted for the same award in 2011.

John has had a diverse career in industry and private practice, working at Denton Hall Burgin & Warrens (now SNR Denton), acting as general counsel for Elonex Plc, senior outsourcing counsel at Capgemini, KLegal Solicitors (KPMG’s tied law firm), and finally as a partner at Stephenson Harwood from 2005 to 2013. He is a member of the editorial board of Outsource magazine, a leading industry publication.
