Ian is based in Osborne Clarke’s London office and advises clients on a range of non-contentious commercial, technology and privacy matters. He is a blockchain enthusiast and focuses particularly on high value, large scale, complex outsourcing and fintech deals.
Ian has experience of a variety of domestic and cross-border arrangements, including outsourcing transactions, e-commerce, agency and distribution, data protection and privacy issues. He has spent time in Osborne Clarke’s California offices, helping US clients with their expansion into Europe and with changes in European data privacy law. He continues to advise clients on their international expansion plans, in particular assisting with European reseller arrangements and managing large-scale multi-jurisdictional legal projects.
Ian has undertaken a number of secondments, on each occasion working as part of a commercial in-house legal team delivering pragmatic advice to key business stakeholders. He’s also been heavily involved in the preparation of procurement contracts at Heathrow Airport and advising on compliance with the regulatory framework within which it operates.
Much of Ian’s work involves assisting clients in the financial services and digital business sectors. He frequently speaks and writes about blockchain and international expansion matters, in particular looking at topics from a US perspective.
Ian qualified in 2011 and joined Osborne Clarke in 2013.
