World Intellectual Property Day Event | Deborah Jaffé, author of Ingenious Women speaks on the women innovators who changed our world | London

As we mark #worldipday today, which this year celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of women who are driving change in our world and shaping our future, we invite you to join us to hear from Deborah Jaffé, author of Ingenious Women.

Starting from the first patent application made by a woman in 1637, Jaffé’s research has focused on patents and registered designs filed by women for inventions which have made an enormous contribution to social change and scientific advance.  Examples include the dishwasher, the windscreen wiper, the coffee maker, dipped headlights, computer language and maritime flares to name only a few!

Jaffé’s lively and inspiring accounts of women’s inventions as well as the struggles women had to overcome to acquire IP rights and put their inventions into production will help us celebrate the women in innovation and creativity who are powering change today.

Sandi Toksvig has written of Ingenious Women: “[it] is a book that needed to be written.  It is time to celebrate the way in which women have changed and improved the world.  My only regret is that I didn’t think to write it myself“.

The event is open to all.  We look forward to welcoming you. Please RSVP using the register your interest button below.
