I’m a technology transactions partner, focusing on innovative technology-led deals where IP, data or technology is being leveraged to add value to a business. I’m head of the technology sector at the firm, and advise on the cross-over space between IP and IT, in the digital business arena with particular focus on complex technology transactions, ecommerce, cloud computing and fintech deals.
I have considerable experience in technology and business process outsourcing, in IT and systems procurement, and in strategic technology contracts. I advise on projects and the associated regulatory issues involving ecommerce, cloud, SaaS, open source, international privacy and licensing, acting for both users and suppliers. I worked in our Silicon Valley office for three years, and as a result I’m regularly called on to project manage pan-European projects for both European and US businesses, because I like getting to grips with cross-border matters.
I’m friendly and down-to-earth, and I’m passionate about the sector I work in. I understand the technology and I understand the solutions, so I try not to be like a typical lawyer, but instead partner with my clients to get things done. Some say I'm a geek!
I am recognised for IT legal work in each of the leading directories, Chambers, Legal Experts and Legal 500 and in the International Who's Who of Internet & Ecommerce lawyers . I co-authored the UK chapter of Global Security and Privacy Law published by Wolters Kluwer.
I qualified at Osborne Clarke in 1999, and became a partner in 2007. I’m also registered to practise English law in California.
