Service area

Osborne Clarke's financial services team monitors and advises financial institutions (including clearing, commercial and investment banks, private banks, securities firms and insurance companies) and corporate entities on all aspects of financial services authorisation and the regulatory environment in which they operate.

Our cross-practice expertise has developed over a number of years' experience in the financial services sector and our team includes lawyers who have previously worked within, or been seconded to, financial institutions.  This gives us a better understanding of our clients' businesses and the issues they are likely to encounter.

Our client base of financial institutions includes retail, commercial and investment banks, private equity houses, venture capitalists, hedge funds and fund managers, insurance and reinsurance companies, insurance intermediaries and financial advisers.

Skills and experience

Our Partners are seeking to recruit a lawyer with at least 2 years' PQE, with a broad range of advisory and transactional work for, or involving, financial services businesses.  In addition to financial services legislation and regulation experience, candidates will possess significant experience in data protection and privacy (including the collection, use, and disclosure of information) in a financial context.  They will also have had some exposure to regulatory issues relating to bank cards, payment systems, the Consumer Credit Act, the Financial Services and Markets Act, the Mortgage and Insurance Conduct of Business rules.

The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and technical skills coupled with a pragmatic approach and keen interest in the sector.  Candidates will have provided extensive legal regulatory and compliance advice and had dealings with the FSA.

The team Partner is Paul Anning .
