A vacation scheme is the perfect opportunity to gain first-hand experience of life and work at Osborne Clarke.

Each placement runs for two weeks during June and July in our Bristol, London and Thames Valley offices. The scheme is open to candidates in their penultimate year of a qualifying law degree, final year of a non law degree, graduates and those considering a career change.

Programme

The vacation scheme is a great way for you to show us what you're made of and offers you the chance to demonstrate your suitability for a training contract. During the placement you will be given an invaluable insight into our business, the sectors and markets in which we operate and the people who work here. We offer a structured two week programme of work experience with the aim of getting you involved in real working situations.

For the time that you are with us you will be allocated a trainee solicitor who will be your buddy. You will also be allocated a fee earner supervisor in each department that you spend time in.

What will you do?

You can expect to be doing everything from taking notes at client meetings, preparing bundles of documents, helping out with disclosure and researching cases. Alongside the work experience, social events are held throughout the placement giving you the opportunity to build relationships and contacts and learn more about the culture and work of the firm.

Your two weeks with us will give you the opportunity to meet a variety of people from around the firm and will allow you the chance to get all your questions answered.

The deadline for all vacation placement applications is 31 January 2010, and we will aim to let you know our decision within 3 weeks of the deadline. If your application is successful then you will be asked to attend an assessment centre in February/March.
